I Miss You

I miss you, more than I ever thought I would do but I do it. They say basic emotions are happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise and disgust but missing you is none of them. It is the void in my life which doesn't let me feel any other emotion.

I miss you when I am happy, it does make my happiness feel incomplete; I miss you when I am sad because all I need then is your shoulder to cry, you arms to wrap me around you hug me tight; I miss you when I am angry, as you are the only one on whom I can vent it out or who can calm me down.

I miss you when I find me alone in the bed; when I find myself alone on the road; when I know you are upset and things are not working out as you wanted; I feel lonely in the crowd and I find myself content enough being just with you.

I miss you in your infidelity, I am not the one who is there in your thoughts but some other girl is. I miss you in your effort of working things out as it should have been effortless.

I miss you when I love you, your love is missing there.

I wonder if I love you more or do I miss you more. My life has turned into just a question mark, do I miss 'You' because I Love You or do I miss the love which I thought is 'You'?

Book Review : 'Spring Fever' by Mary Kay Andrews

My Rating
Book Name : Spring Fever
Author : Mary Kay Andrews
Genre : Fiction

Blurb : Annajane Hudgens truly believes she is over her ex-husband, Mason Bayless. They’ve been divorced for four years, she’s engaged to a new, terrific guy, and she’s ready to leave the small town where she and Mason had so much history. She is so over Mason that she has absolutely no problem attending his wedding to the beautiful, intelligent, delightful Celia. But when fate intervenes and the wedding is called to a halt as the bride is literally walking down the aisle, Annajane begins to realize that maybe she’s been given a second chance. Maybe everything happens for a reason. And maybe, just maybe, she wants Mason back. But there are secrets afoot in this small southern town. On the peaceful surface of Hideaway Lake, Annajane discovers that the past is never really gone. Even if there are people determined to keep Annajane from getting what she wants, happiness might be hers for the taking, and the life she once had with Mason in this sleepy lake town might be in her future.

Book from my eyes : I got a suggestion for this book in GoodReads as Beach Read. What attracted me most about the book was the colourful cover. I wouldn't say this is one of the best books I have read or this is one of the finest books, but this is definitely a good read. Though this book is based on the plots of North Carolina, USA, however, this book is not much less than any 'Ekta Kapoor' serial. :D This book has love story, family drama, Sas-Bahu drama (mother-in-law and daughter-in-law chemistry), Pati-Patni-aur-wo (Love Triangle) and a perfect chudail (vamp) in Celia.

Thumbs Up: There are many things I loved about the book
  •  As I always judge a book by the chemistry between the characters, Mason and Annajane are just made for each other or couple made in heaven. I thoroughly enjoyed the love, bonding they share. How they can read things which none of them have told. The erotic scenes between them are also written very nicely. Mason is a man every woman dream about as a husband or life partner. Awesome work Mary Kay on this. I was really disappointed when Mason and Annajane couldn't make much progress in the firm house.
  • The pace of the novel is perfect. It never felt that it's being dragged.
  • Twists are well created and maintained till the disclosure. Sometimes they really got me worried about Mason and Annajane.
  • Sas-Bahu chemistry between Annajane and Shelly will seriously give Ekta Kapoor chills. :D
Thumbs Down : What I didn't like about the book are
  • Just like any typical Hindi serial, here also the men are good for nothing and dumb, and the women are the one who runs and controls everything.
  • There are some major drawbacks of the book, especially about Celia. This is very stupid to assume that someone will hand over their entire business to a girl without knowing anything about her. Annajane, Mason, and Pokey seemed to be too worried about their family business but they never take a single step to save it other than blaming their jerk brother David.
  • The character David seemed really clueless. Initially, I assumed he has good business sense and not driven by stupid emotions, but then who falls for a girl who is cheating his own brother and marries her knowing what a girl she is?
Verdict : Though there are loopholes and drawbacks in this book, but it is definitely a good read which will leave a long-lasting feel good mood.

Movie Review : Fan

My Rating

Movie Name : Fan
Directed by : Maneesh Sharma
Produced by : Aditya Chopra
Cast : Shah Rukh Khan, Waluscha de Sousa, Sayani Gupta, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Deepika Amin, Yogendra Tiku

Plot : Gaurav Chandana, a big fan of superstar Aryan Khanna, is obsessed with the superstar. Coincidentally he belongs to the same city, Delhi where Aryan Khanna is born and brought up and looks similar to Aryan. His only dream in life is to meet his hero on his birthday. He saves money to reach Mumbai and reaches to Aryan's home on his birthday but fails to meet him and remains unnoticed by Aryan among the thousands of other fans. On the other side, Aryan slaps an upcoming hero, Sid Kapoor in his birthday party and Sid makes a big deal out of it. Gaurav kidnaps Sid and beats the crap out of him and gets his apology to Media. Also, he sends a video to Aryan of the entire process. This entire thing doesn't go well with Aryan and denies to accept Gaurav as his fan. There starts the actual story of the movie, The biggest fan turns into the biggest enemy of Aryan! The journey of Gaurav's revenge on Aryan and as his similar face gives a huge advantage to him for the same.

My take on the movie : Trailor of Fan was really great and went to the theater with lots of expectations. Before the interval, the movie went at a perfect pace, the madness a fan, desperation to meet him, crossing the limits to impressed him was depicted perfectly. But morning always doesn't show the day. The good feeling about the movie got completely ruined in the second half. Most of the scenes were dragged unnecessarily. What was most disappointing about Fan is the climax.

Thumbs Up :
- The acting of Shahrukh Khan is one of his best. Though Gaurav's acting seems to be a bit over-acting, but Aryan was just awesome.
- Look of Gaurav suits him perfectly. 3D Scanning process has been performed very aptly.
- There was no song in Fan, which is not something which generally happens in Bollywood movies.

Thumbs Down :
- As I have already have told, the climax was disappointing. As per me, it's giving a very wrong message to society and will leave a wrong impression on youth.
- A major flaw to me was, Gaurav, a person with a lean built and high incisors, at times disguises himself as Aryan who is a man with a great built, abs and perfect jawline and no visible flaw in incisors. But no-one, including his wife, can identify the same. Come on, at least the build should make a big difference if not the teeth.
- One more thing which didn't go well with me is, how did he get access to a high profile marriage, is it so easy to get an access pass? Then what is the security? Also, just for an actor misbehaved in a marriage or in a museum, doesn't do so much damage that everyone will boycott his live performance.
- The worst thing about the movie is the fight sequences, the chasing in both the sequence seems to be never ending.. It was way to much dragged.

Verdict : As per me, considering the influence in the common human life, Bollywood should take ownership either to spread some good message for the society or simply entertain people. But, with Gaurav committing suicide in the climax, this movie has terribly failed in both the cases.

The Marriage

What is a marriage?

The definition book said, it is legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship. The Society said this is a bonding of seven births, commitment of being together during each others thick and thin. He said marriage is the most nonscientific institution. It's not possible for any two human beings to be in love with each other forever and ever. Someone else said, there is no charm in marriage after a couple of years, so they couple should go for a baby. Because that's what keep them together. But to me, marriage was a courtship, a tale of being in love forever and ever. A never ending, a never changing feeling. The word infidelity had no place in my dictionary, in my marriage, in my love. Marriage is about sharing a life, sharing feelings, sharing love, sharing hatred, sharing hope, sharing dreams, sharing the pain, a desire to fulfill each others wishes, to complement each other. Is this what I learnt from my society? - Maybe. But if society taught us such a big definition of marriage, then why does it often occur in marriages that they stop working in between? Why does often it occurs in marriages that people just stop loving and starts living for society? Why is marriage so fragile that it fails in a slight stroke? And if it is so, then why are we made to believe it's a bonding of a lifetime? Why it gets so tough to accept that it is not a bonding seven births, sometimes not even for seven years? If marriages are the bonding between two people who are alike, then why can't they fall out of love at the same time? What I realized from life, marriage is a myth, myth of bonding, myth of togetherness, myth of commitments. This is just another battle of 'Survival of the fittest'. A marriage survives when both the people feel they are fittest for each other, but it breaks when one of them finds, (s)he deserves someone fitter.

Book Review : 'PS, I Love You' by Cecelia Ahern

My Rating

Book Name : PS, I Love You
Author : Cecelia Ahern
Genre : Romance

Blurb : Holly couldn't live without her husband Gerry, until the day she had to. They were the kind of young couple who could finish each other's sentences. When Gerry succumbs to a terminal illness and dies, 30-year-old Holly is set adrift, unable to pick up the pieces. But with the help of a series of letters her husband left her before he died and a little nudging from an eccentric assortment of family and friends, she learns to laugh, overcome her fears, and discover a world she never knew existed.

Book from my eyes : PS, I Love You is a novel about Holly, a young who has just lost her husband to brain tumour and scattered into pieces. As I proceeded with the book, with every single incident I cried my heart out, laughed, been jealous to Holly every single moment for having such a loving family and friends. While I enjoyed every bit of the story, I was as eager as holly for Gerry'S next letter. By the time I finished reading the book, they all became my world and I started missing them.

Thumbs Up: I loved every bit of this book. But still to point out

  •  The concept of the book about Gerry's letter is the biggest thumbs up. The letters were crisp and awesome. The way those letters slowly led Holly's life from the grief of Gerry's death to having a normal life is commendable.
  •  Not only Holly and Gerry, but all the relationships are portrayed in a perfect way in this book. Friends should be exactly the way Sharon and Denise are; brothers should be exactly how Jack and Declan are; Elizabeth and Ciara describe what a perfect mother and sister is.
  • This book couldn't have been better.
  • There are lots of lines which touched my heart and will forever be there. Few of them being
    • “Shoot for the moon, even if you fail, you'll land among the stars”
    • “Nobody's life is filled with perfect little moments. And if it were, they wouldn't be perfect little moments. They would just be normal. How would you ever know happiness if you never experience downs?”
    • “Seeming and being are not one and the same.”
    • “what a luxury it was for people to be
able to hold their loved ones whenever they wanted.”
    and many many more.
Thumbs Down : - There is none. But only thumbs down I can think of is what was Gerry's promise to John, was not disclosed.

Verdict : A must-must-must read for everyone.

Movie Review : Ki & KA

My Rating

Movie Name : Ki & Ka
Directed by : R. Balki
Produced by : R. Balki, R K Damani, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Sunil Lulla
Written by : R. Balki
Cast : Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor

Plot : Kia(Kareena Kapoor) has an aim to become a successful business woman and also wishes other women to work instead of managing the households and just becoming the support system of her husband. On her flight to Delhi back from Chandigarh, she meets Kabir(Arjun Kapoor). The two get along very nicely and start meeting quite often. Kia discovers Kabir wants to be a house - "wife" like his mother and does not want to get caught in the race of progress by becoming of business man. Kia also discovers that Kabir is the son of a highly successful building constructor(Rajit Kapoor) but does not want to inherit his immense wealth.
Kia and Kabir gradually fall in love and decide to marry where Kabir would handle the household stuff while Kia would be the bread - earner. They convince their parents for this marriage and get married in a court. Their married life goes on well and Kia gets a tremendous boost in her work and is promoted to higher positions. Meanwhile, the landlord of their house decides to sell the house due to financial problems and Kabir not wanting to move out decides to buy it. To make up the money required, he becomes a gym coach for some ladies which he knows. Soon, they are successful in buying the house.
On an interview of Kia(for her highly successful career), she mentions about her husband's roles in the house and the interviewer is impressed by this. She takes an interview of Kabir also in which he explains that it does no matter whether ki(girl) takes up the role of ka(boy) and ka takes up the role of ki. People are impressed by this interview and Kabir is called for many more interviews and speeches on Gender equality. Kabir gets hooked up in these interviews and speeches and is so not able to manage his house properly. Kia gets a little jealous of all this and tells him to stop this show of the publicity of their life. Kabir agrees to this. Kia then goes to the USA for her work where Kabir does not accompany her. In a college reunion, one of Kabir's friend asks him to give an interview which he reluctantly agrees. Jaya Bachchan who sees this interview on TV, asks Amitabh Bachchchan to call him as she wanted to meet him in person. Kabir pays them a visit and Jaya Bachchan gives a gift for Kia. Meanwhile when Kabir was out, Kia's mother(Swaroop Sampat) suffers from low blood pressure and collapses. She is taken to the hospital and upon receiving this news Kia hastens back to India.
Upon knowing that Kabir was gone for an interview she hurls her with abuses and suspects him of being a cheat. She tells him that he used her for his own profit to earn fame without working and he was as it is going to get money from his father. In all this Kabir does not say anything to her and returns back to their home. He starts packing his bag to leave for Chandigarh. Kia sees the gift given by Jaya Bachchan in which was a letter which said that to be a man not working but handling the house is a brave choice but to be a wife of such a man is a harder choice. The letter said that Kabir was indeed lucky to have Kia as his wife. Kia's mother also tells her that she was jealous of Kabir's fame and one who earns in the family is bound to be jealous when the other starts receiving fame. Kia understands her mistake and apologizes Kabir on the flight to Chandigarh. In the end, Kabir's father decides to make Kia the CEO of his company and all ends happily.:)
*Plot is copied from Wikipedia*

My take on the movie:
A very fresh concept, big stars, revolutionary director, this movie had everything which needed to make a good recipe, but the food just didn't taste as everyone expected it to be. In today's world, in many cases, both of the spouses are working and manages their respective responsibility at work and home perfectly. Yes, I would agree on a point that, we are not yet as progressive to accept a woman working and husband being the stay-at-home-husband than accepting wife as a housewife, but definitely not every parent expect their daughter or daughter in law will not be the pillar of their son-in-law or son. The fact it's a mutual expectation for both bride and groom that they will be there to support each other during thick and thins.

What didn't go well with me in this movie is,
  • Kabir claims, he doesn't live on his father's money, but he used to live in the same house as his father. Then what was the source of his income and from where he could afford the whiskey (cheap) and flight tickets for comfort his friend?
  • Kabir tries to convince Kia about his sexual straightness by saying he doesn't like pink, interested in women and loves whiskey. My question to Mr. Balki here if a 'man' doesn't like whiskey and like pink color, does it make him less masculine? Also, while trying to prove 'Shtreeling Puling samething', somewhere you have insulted the feeling of the other genders?
  • If Kabir is a househusband and Kia is working women, why is it necessary for both of them to introduce Kabir as 'Wife', why can't they use the term 'a househusband'?
  • Giving 50% discount to the men in saffola oil is one of the most stupid business ideas I have ever heard. Because, irrespective of being a househusband, working husband of a housewife or working husband of a working wife, it's not so rare for men to go out for grocery shopping, in fact, in rural areas it is the man of the house who does all these things.
  • What was the so special responsibility Kabir was taking for which there has to be a dedicated a househusband?
  • Someone who can beat rowdies is masculine and he turns a sophisticated girl on.
  • Why Kabir has to wear Mangalsutra? I mean what is the taboo of wearing it if one is not interested? It's should not be projected as a mandate for housewives to wear mangalsutra.
Thumbs Up:
  • Though the movie couldn't live up to the expectation, but the concept is definitely worth making a good movie.
  • Kareena has done a splendid job with the role of Kia and set designer is fabulous.
  • Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are phenomenal in the sort role they have played.
Thumbs Down:
  • Apart from all the points I already mentioned, songs are just pathetic.
  • The movie seemed too much dragged to me. This movie should not have taken more than 1 hour of time so show what it has shown.
  • I would not give R. Balki a credit for this unique concept, as the same concept has been aired as a daily soap called Mrs. Tendulkar and which did better justice than Ki&Ka
Verdict : Not worth watching in a multiplex. Wait for the movie to telecast on television.
